Driver charged with DUI after failing to maintain lane

The consequences of a criminal conviction can follow a person for the rest of his or her life in some cases. It can affect personal life and work opportunities, and as a result, most people charged with a crime want to do whatever they can to avoid conviction. Any criminal accusation, including a DUI charge, needs to be taken seriously.

One man in Tennessee will undoubtedly want to ensure that he takes his case seriously after recently being taken into custody. According to reports, an officer noticed the man's vehicle crossing the centerline and side-fog line multiple times. As a result, the officer conducted a traffic stop. The officer allegedly noted that the driver's speech was slurred and that he had red, watery eyes.

The man apparently performed field sobriety tests, which the officer did not find satisfactory. As a result, the man was taken into custody on a charge of DUI. It was noted that he had his 8-year-old son in the vehicle, but it was unclear who took custody of the child after his father's arrest. The report did mention that the man was a part-time paramedic.

Because this Tennessee man is a paramedic, his job may involve driving an ambulance at least part of the time. A conviction for DUI could greatly affect his career and ability to drive an ambulance. Undoubtedly, he will want to ensure that he understands his legal rights and gains information on his available criminal defense options to determine his best options for moving forward.
